#1

We are planning to build new enterprise app for Android. Debating which is best bet for our app Java/Kotlin.
Looks like Java is proven with good community support. Where as Kotlin is still evolving and not sure howz community support, if developer needs help. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Kotlin is a statically typed programming language for Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and JavaScript. … Kotlin introduces improved syntax, as well as concise expressions and abstractions. Using Kotlin with Java eliminates the need for excessive boilerplate code, which is a huge win for Android developers.

Out of various programming paradigms, which are currently in use, it’s not easy to evaluate which approach will turn out to be the best or reap rewards beyond expectations. Each of these programming paradigms has their own set of strengths and weakness. There can be various scenarios where functional programming approach can be effective while procedural approach can be simultaneously used in other places.

Is the differentiation between functional and procedural apt? Kotlin is the merger of both functional and procedural approach and aims to bring out the best from the two. Once you gain an experience in Java application development, you will have an even better understanding and appreciation for Kotlin. We have coalesced android app developer India, who will delight you with their expertise in Android Development. We are just a call away!

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. We will continue to explore benefits of moving to Kotlin. Can you Please refer to any doc/resource explaining pros and cons of Kotlin over Java. This helps us to make conscious decision for future direction. One group in our organization interested in java for two reasons.

  1. Community support for developers is huge for Java, where as Kotlin comma its help is not there yet.
  2. Kotlin is evolving and not proved yet like Java. So investment on time and resource might be risky.
